I’ve never seen Dirty Dancing and I’m not about to start watching it now, it seems a terrible load of old nonsense to me – it hasn’t got any monsters or ray guns or atomic mutation and it’s not even in black and white.
Steven Seagal isn’t in it either.

    • SG-3

@Morticia/Ms Siobhan, I concur! Has midmoclub jumped the shark with this choice?!? “Steven Seagal isn’t in it either.” Nor is Dennis Quaid!

      What WERE they thinking!

(Now to dig up my Tremors trilogy – I still haven’t watched 2 and three!)

      • Dan

@SG-3, Jump the Shark? On episode 8? Surely not.

We’re trying to cover a broad variety of movies here on the club, although I suspect we’ll not venture into films like Dirty Dancing again for a long time after next week.

@SG-3, Highly recommend number 2 (if you can’t already tell by the podcast!) – I’ve yet to watch 3 or 4 or the television series but I think there is a good chance that I’ll be checking them out in the future.

        • SG-3

@Lee, I held off listening to this one until I watched the movie. That is one fine film, considering its troubled beginnings (http://bit.ly/bcFQ3z ; there’s some great stuff on this site! )

Loved the podcast, and I think they did mention some Meh-he-can food too – Kate apologizing that they were not well equiped food-wise and there was only some Nachos maybe (or I could be making that up!)

Now, I’ll try and catch up with the podcasts a bit!

      • @SG-3, That site is fantastic! I love the fact that the internet contains such things :)

@Morticia/Ms Siobhan, What do you mean no ray guns?? It’s chock a block full of them! I can tell you’ve obviously not watched it. For shame.

    • Lee

@Morticia/Ms Siobhan, I see Dirty Dancing as the prequel to Roadhouse, before Dalton had to change his name and become a bouncer.

The tagline to Roadhouse is “The dancing’s over. Now it gets dirty.”

  • Morticia/Ms Siobhan

What, they are ray guns in Dirty Dancing? are you sure you just didn’t want ray guns whilst watching it so you could have ray-gunned the cast out of existence?

  • Morticia/Ms Siobhan

Or your own eyeballs so you didn’t have to see what was on the screen?

  • Fred Ward will always be recognizable to me for two roles: Earl, and Remo Williams (now that’s a midmo movie). Love his attitude.

    • Lee

@Jeff, I’ve never seen Remo Williams and judging by the poster I probably should.

      • @Lee, Oh yeah. Definitely. It’s a fun patch of ’80s goodness. And according to IMDB, they’re working on a remake. Just looking at the IMDB page makes me want to go out and rent this thing.

      • @Lee, This, I think, will be the clincher for you – the same guy did the score for this and Last Starfighter (and, apparently, the game Leisure Suit Larry 5).
