The Fifth Element

Oh my how the weeks have rolled by and not a word from Lee and Dan the entire time, well except occasionally over on Facebook and probably to people around them such as immediate family etc.

But nothing on movies!?!?!

Well all that changes right now as we proudly present:

Lee and Dan watch The Fifth Element and discuss the Dark Knight and answer Ian’s questions and complain about stuff and make fun of Arjan and talk about the olympics and mention hovercrafts AND Pacey!

Which did not fit perfectly on the new badges that Dan hopes to one day release so we’ll probably just go with the usual Midnight Movie Club title instead.

So here it is:

We hoped that you enjoyed the podcast and hopefully it won’t be too long before the boys are back again, in the meantime go and leave a comment below and come over the the Facebook page to have a chat!!

Before listening somewhere tomorrow or the day after I just have to say this about it: bzzzzz zzz!!!

    • http://quityourdayjob.com.au Lee

      We quote that!!!!

      • http://soundtracksofwhatever.blogspot.com Arjan

        of course you do…and you’re also Korben Dallas… ;)

Thanks for answering my questions. If I’d known I was the only one, I’d have thought harder and posted more.

Great answers though, especially to the third question on your most memorable movie experience. You’ve made yourselves slightly more likable to your podcast audience ;-)

I went and saw The Dark Knight Rises last week and I also thought it was terrific. I was only familiar with the Knightfall story but like you guys mentioned, I didn’t need to know that other storylines to love this film. Absolutely amazing!

Oh, and your review of fifth element was pretty good too.

    • http://quityourdayjob.com.au Lee

Three was the perfect number of questions!

      • http://allthatcomeswithit.com Dan

After all, three is the magic number.

    Guys,

Great to hear your voices! Good episode too.

    Some thoughts on this episode:

    1. Lee’s point about Science and Math being a priority over sports is spot on. Thank you, sir.

    2. Swinging dicks around? I can’t do that without tweezers.

    3. The Dark Knight Rises is fantastic, and I found Bane’s voice to be both sophisticated and menacing.

    4. Office Space!!! Classic movie. Very funny too. Ummmm, yeah, I’m gonna need you to stay late.

    5. Kevin Smith’s “Fatman on Batman” podcast is really good and his enthusiasm shines through. I mean, it’s no Midmo Club, but it’s good.

    6. I apologize for not asking questions on Facebook. Ian had great questions and should be rewarded with a co-hosting gig for one show.

    7. You guys mentioned increasing show frequency. To quote Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber, “you better not be foolin’.”

    8. Dan, your comment about doing a your voice only podcast made me literally laugh out loud.

Guys, really, it was a fun show and it was good to hear your voices. Can’t wait for the next episode!

    Jobless Jonathan

P.S. The Fifth Element is truly a horrible movie.

      JJ,

      1. You’re welcome sir, I think we get a little “olympic head” every four years and forget that whilst inspiring etc we also need to be smart because there is so much we can overcome if we just put our minds to it.
      2. Me thinks you’re seeking compliments – you will not be getting any. Move along.
      3. I didn’t mind his voice at all, it was jarring to begin with which is probably part of the idea.
      4. “You’ve been missing a lot of work Peter” “I can’t say that I’ve been missing it Bob”
      5. I shall endeavour to check it out.
      6. It’s no biggie, Ian’s questions were good and great conversation starters. If you ask a question in the next couple of days perhaps we’ll discuss it if we do another podcast soon.
      7. No promises, but it’s looking good.
      8. It sounds like a truly awful idea, I don’t think I have time to write an insightful and thoughtful solo script for him…

PS you PS makes me wonder how on earth you got a job?!?

PPS when are we going to see some YouTube comedy to feature on the podcast????

That’s supposed to be an ordered list, I dislike the code behind this theme some days – I’m so very close to going VERY minimal on this site.

Thanks JJ, I wouldn’t say no to a guest spot if I were asked ;-)

  • SG-3

Just discovered the Ronald MacDonald House has free wifi, so the first thing I did was download this! Glad I did; it was good old-school MidMoClub. Great to hear you chew the fat again, and that I’m not alone in having a good cry in movies!

I really like Fifth Element, EXCEPT I find Chris Tucker is to The Fifth Element as Jar Jar Binks is to the Star Wars saga! I would love to just edit his jarring unecessariness right out of the movie! I didn’t feel that about Gary Oldman. I also loved how fully realised the world felt.

Thanks again for the show; I listened with headphones but I’m sure I disturbed my sleeping daughter with a number of belly-laughs!

    • http://quityourdayjob.com.au Lee

Of course mate we’re all thinking positive thoughts for you and yours during what has clearly been a trying period!

This wek’s episode felt really good when we recorded it, I think that has a lot to do with not putting any pressure on ourselves and remembering why we love doing it.

I said it in the podcast I don’t mind the Chris Tucker role still though I’ve seen far too much of it in later films to appreciate it as a performance now.

Happy to send some laughs your way.

    • Ian

I hope things are going as well as they can in your world SG-3. I still sending supporting vibes your family’s way.

  • Jobless Jonathan

    Lee,

My P.S.: To be fair I haven’t seen it since it first came out. Chris Tucker’s character turned me off so badly that I never gave it a chance.

Your P.S.S.: I’m still a beginner but as I hone my act I’ll definitely get some YouTube to you.

  • Jobless Jonathan

    SG-3,

Great point about Tucker being a Jar Jar Binks character! You’ve convinced me to give it another chance. Also, whatever it is you’re going through, hang in there. I wish you all the best.

That junkie hold-up was just gold. As I ‘happened’ to watch it just before you did this was one of the few times I actually saw the movie around the same time I heard podcast which makes it even better (the podcast).

As far as the Olympics…we were swinging quite well too. This whole London Olympics sparked the discussion if the Netherlands would be able to organize it in….2028. That’s 16 years from now, but as much as I enjoyed the games in London it did cost a darn lot more than necessary, although I don’t expect rockets to be mounted on the Amsterdam Arena anytime soon…(another way of swinging), but who knows. I’ll be interested to see if the many sports accommodations created for the OG will be used much the coming years.
And Dan keeps telling he doesn’t like pretty people (he doesn’t woo me with his ‘not attractive’ speech)…he did go to see WOMEN’s football…

As for my English..I know you’re just jealous ;)

    • http://midmoclub.com Dan

To be fair we were sat a fair distance away so couldn’t really see what gender they were anyhow.

      • http://dutchnid.blogspot.com Arjan

you sure it even was football and not mixed gender Korfball?
