@Dan Barrett, I apologise sincerely.

However shortly after we published this I was havign a conversation about it on twitter with Neil Mullarkey who was one of the writers - so that gave me a very geeky buzz.

I'm still of the opinion that Myers overplayed the role. If he just reined it in a little bit he'd have been fine (think Jim Carrey in Yes Man)

How can you get through this whole podcast without mentioning that it was directed by Thomas Schlamme, who went on to do The West Wing? For shame, gentlemen.

I never felt that Mike Myers was as great a weakness in this film as you suggested. Instead, I always thought that it was mostly rather charming. Sure the coffee house "Hello!" bits always made the guy seem like a douche, but I always figured that was the point. His character was simply a bit obnoxious when out with his friends at night.

You know what this website needs? A really over-sized tag cloud.

@Jeff, I honestly hadn't heard of the movie until it was suggested by MC.

I have however heard of and seen One Crazy Summer... I think. It has the girl from Babylon 5 right?

Right??

@MC, Dan just edits mine out so I don't have to worry about keeping myself in check otherwise our rating would probably shoot up to R 18+

SCTV (Second City) is the SNL-equivalent from Canada. John Candy, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, and Rick Moranis all got big breaks there.

Whoa... You've never heard of "Better Off Dead"?! You've gotta be kidding me. That actually hurts! Have you heard of "One Crazy Summer"?

Nice tag on the end there.

As a disco expert, I must tell you that "I Love the Nightlife" is by Alicia Bridges.
This song also figured prominently in the film "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", which I believe Lee has a small part in.
And yes, that is Agent Smith.

@Dan, yeah as much as I enjoy our swear beep I think we can remain mature and level headed when dealing with our potty mouths.

iTunes don't like you saying words like 'Zune' or 'generic mp3 player'

More on the locations. The coolest part was inadvertantly stumbling on the location with the columns where Charlie and Harriet meet the Russians on their first date. It's at the Palace of Fine Arts, and when we got there, I had this overwhelming feeling that I knew the place. Almost like I'd been there before. It took me a couple of minutes to realise where it was from. And then I walked around for the rest of the day with a stupid grin on my face quoting lines to myself.

In my defence I only bleeped stuff out because we're making an attempt to stay "clean" within the iTunes standards - not that they will inform us what those standards actually are.

I think we're just going to go with Explicit from now on - although we'll probably still keep it pretty mild.
