No trailer this week for the movie Major League as it was bloody hard to find a semi-watchable one and the only one that was actually found was one that paints Tom Berenger’s character as an evil stalker… ummm kind of like how Dan and Lee paint his character…

I think it was in Spanish, I was looking for something to add to the end and I thought the Wild Thing sequence would be neat and then the only version I could find is in Spanish and then it made me giggle so I had to include it!!! I’ve always wanted to know what “strike this mother****er out” is in Spanish – it’ll be useful when I move to Spain… ummmmm damnit. Or “el damito”

I agree with Lee, 8.5, and easy to watch again.
I love the team, against all odds scenarios, as I have been in a few scrapes with certain teams myself. Winning when no one expects you to do is a marvellous feeling.
Concur with Dan though, all the glory hunting fans (technically known as wankers) turning up at the end is annoying. And the bar they cut to with more and more people grows in annoyance.
@Socrates, I’ll watch this again in the next six or so months I’m sure.
I love a good underdog film – though it may be interesting to watch a movie about a team that is awesome from start to finish… not so much drama I suppose.

@Ian, it’s on the magical list I believe – I think Dan might have popped it on there – I know there’s a lot of John Candy though I suspect we’ll probably watch Uncle Buck before Cool Runnings

The most memorable line in that movie for me: “Hats for bats”
There’s so much good stuff in this film. It really is well written.
To the point of this being a ‘men’s film’… that’s true, but all that crotch grabbing and what have you is really particular to baseball. It’s a cliche that they’re playing up in the film – and it’s a cliche for a reason. It’s like all the firemen in Backdraft smoking.
@Jeff, hats for bats is brilliant.
It’s surprisingly well put together for a comedy.
I am surprised neither of you talked about Bob Uecker.
And Lee, I am miffed at you, because you have forced me to agree with Dan. Bakula is Sam Beckett… it is as simple as that.
Let’s go over the facts. It was on first. On a major network. And he got hardware for being on the show.

Even wikipedia agrees, and I don’t see any evidence that Dan was mucking around with the edits.

I’m not sure if it was this podcast (I’ve been listening to ML, Gremlins, Dragnet and Dan&Phil’s Hadrians interview in one go!…have to do something while at work) but I was satisfied that Lee was able to insult me even when I’m not joining the podcast haha.
The guy in ML is one creepy stalker btw, in current day movies he’d be the bad guy for sure.

@Arjan, I don’t think people would accept his character doing what he does in this film today and that youtube video honestly didn’t have to try very hard to make him seem creepy
