Dirty Dancing (1987) special Valentine podcast

By The Midnight Movie Crew, February 14, 2010 9:00 am

Personal thoughts on the film aside but frankly I think that is the worst trailer we’ve featured so far.  Yes this week is special as Dan and Lee have decided to honour Valentine’s Day by watching the one film that fills so many manly men with fear and dread.

Dirty Dancing.

Directed by Emile Ardolinio

Starring: Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, Jerry Orbach, Cynthia Rhodes

It was either that or Grease.

Lessor of two evils I guess.

There will still be another podcast on Wednesday but won’t be quite so long.

Remember to check out the Facebook page for some never before seen behind the scenes photos… well one.  Hey you should add your own photos of you listening to the podcast!!!

I’ve never seen dirty dancing nor have any intention too either. It just never appealled to me. Now “Sleepless in Seattle” that’s a good chick flick.

@Jane, I do like Sleepless in Seattle but over the years every time I’ve seen it I’ve liked it less, I don’t know if it holds up as well as When Harry Met Sally.

Dirty Dancing is what it is, if you are vaguely interested then it will do what you hope for and if you’ve got no interest whatsoever then best not to bother.

    Dan Reply:

@john gray, that’s interesting, for some reason I never had this down as a “gay movie”. I suppose I would automatically think of the Sound of Music as a stereotypical film that would be popular with a gay audience.

Very funny, and nice shoehorning in of the word Bru-haha (or however you spell it).

@Insomniac Mummy, I don’t even recall the word being used – man I hoped I used it, it sounds like something I’d say :)

  6. Jeff says:

I have never seen Dirty Dancing, but now I want to see a 2-3 minute synopsis of the best parts. I’m not sure why, and I feel a little dirty for saying it, so thanks for causing that.

On the Podcast Dance – what you need is for everyone to submit videos of themselves doing the Podcast Dance, so you can edit them all together into a single video. That would be an instant hit. Yeah. That’s the ticket.

    Lee Reply:

@Jeff, I would LOVE it if everyone submitted podcasting dances to us!!! I can’t stress this enough LOVE!!!!

    Come on people!!!

I forgot to comment this earlier, if you are unfamiliar with the Catskills and what used to be called the “Borscht Belt” and the various resorts, camps and bungalow colonies, wikipedia has a pretty good entry:
