DAN! For shame! You got this far in life with NO BRUCE CAMPBELL?! Bubba Ho-Tep needs to be on your list of movies to watch. You don’t have to review it, but you DO need to watch it!!!!

    And Evil Dead. . . . . . . . . . . .

    • http://allthatcomeswithit.com Dan

@Poppy, I’m not quite sure why it happened. He just wasn’t on my radar during that crucial 13-23 year old gap.

    • Lee

@Poppy, It surprised me just as much to discover this fact, you think you know someone!

Another great podcast guys… you definitely need to do Bubba Ho-Tep, have you done Big Trouble in Little China yet?.

Oh and Battlefield Earth is absolutely a terrible terrible excuse for a movie :P

    • http://allthatcomeswithit.com Dan

@Phil Kingham, Bubba Ho-Tep just falls short of our self imposed rules (It was made in 2002 and we don’t allow ourselves any films younger than 10 years old). It’s on the schedule for 2012 though :)

    • Lee

@Phil Kingham, We’re hesitant to do Big Trouble in Little China as it is one of my all time favourite films and therefore up on a very lofty pedestal. It’s one that everyone always asks about so I’m sure we’ll relent one day, just not for another 12 films ;)

      • http://twitter.com/PhilKingham Phil Kingham

@Lee, Oh yeah fair enough.. Its one of my all time faves too.. I can recite just about every line in the film often to the annoyance to people I am watching it with :P

        • Lee

@Phil Kingham, Its the same with Ghostbusters for me, we stay away from that as well :)

    • http://allthatcomeswithit.com Dan

@Phil Kingham, I saw it for the first time around two years ago and…err. wasn’t particularly impressed.

Is this the end for the Midmoclub?

      • http://allthatcomeswithit.com Dan

@Dan, Saying that, I think I wasn’t expecting the tone of it so it took me aback and a while to get into. A second veiwing may be more favorable.

      • http://twitter.com/PhilKingham Phil Kingham

@Dan, Are you talking about Big Trouble in Little China? If so yes I am affarid its serious

        • Lee

@Phil Kingham, it’s so hard because I have to carry the team in the taste department.

  • http://www.caddicks.com/blog Jeff

As I’ve said before, Brisco County Jr. is worth the effort.

Also, My Name is Bruce: funny flick. I liked it. Every once in a while the theme song comes to me unbidden and gets stuck in my head… hilarious.

I must sadly admit, however, that I’ve not seen AOD. It just never seems to make it into the queue somehow.

    • http://allthatcomeswithit.com Dan

@Jeff, You should check it out Jeff, it’s very funny.

I may take a look at Brisco County Jr. It’s now added to my humongous list.

    • Lee

@Jeff, Everytime I set time aside to sit and watch My Name is Bruce I always get distracted by something, I shall make the effort to see it before the sequel is made!!

    • http://twitter.com/PhilKingham Phil Kingham

@Jeff, Brisco County Jr was classic Bruce Campbell, however I spent most of My Name Is Bruce cringing which disappointed me greatly. It is great to see him every week on Burn Notice though

      • http://www.caddicks.com/blog Jeff

@Phil Kingham, he is great in Burn Notice. I look at My Name is Bruce as a B-movie of a B-Movie (does that make it a D-movie?) so I liked it.

    Holy political hogwash, Batman!
sad reference to Adam West’s automated phone calls for some election
You have to watch Bubba Ho-Tep, it rocks!
And, yeah, Bruce Campbell is king of the B-grade flicks, almost (but not quite) rivalled by Vernon Wells :P

    • Lee

@Jayne, Thats disturbing, I don’t think I like the idea of mixing my comic book heroes with politics!

Bubba Ho Tep is a surprisingly beautiful story performed superbly by Campbell.

      • http://allthatcomeswithit.com Dan

@Lee, I’d be more upset if he was republican

  • Ian

You forgot about the Old Spice ads Bruce has done. They’re a work of art all on their own!

He’s also excellent in Burn Notice. He’d have the lead if he was younger (and a little more buff).

    • Lee

@Ian, I could never get into Burn Notice myself, probably because he’s not the lead :P

Actually it’s funny because every episode I’ve seen has been good just lacks the hook to keep me coming back.

      • Ian

@Lee, I don’t religiously watch them either, but if I happen to come across it I do stay to the end of the episode.

  • Ian

Hey Lee, I think you introduced me to this film back in High School. For that, I will forever be in your debt *bows low”.

    • Lee

@Ian, Yes I did and you are welcome, I credit you though with introducing me to Ghost Rider or at the least encouraging it!!

      • http://allthatcomeswithit.com Dan

@Lee, Ghost rider? And you two are still friends? Wow

(I’m assuming the comic is on a par with the film)

        • Lee

@Dan, The comic is even better than the brilliant Ghost Rider movie, I know it’s hard to believe, actually it used to be an awesome comic series.

          • Ian

@Lee, Thanks, I thought so too. Pitty about the latest attempt at the on-going title :-(

        • Ian

@Dan, oh Dan oh Dan. The 90′s verson of GR was what got me hooked into conic books. I throughly recommend any issue of GR (starting in 1990) #1 – #29 (it slowly decends into fanboy-only territory after that). If you do have a look, please push the movie from your mind and get into it fresh.

  • SG-3

My very first ever Horror Movie was Evil Dead; I was maybe fourteen, and it was at a mates place on an all night video vigil. Freaked the absolute stuffing out of me, and I was scarred for life! He then talked me into another all-nighter, and threw ED2 at me… not quite so much scarring, but I was glad there was no ED3!

Years later another friend asked me to go with him to see a new film called Army of Darkness… all I really remember was sitting in the cinema and it dawning on me that this. was. Evil. Dead. Three!!! Which is a shame because I think I actually should have enjoyed it!

    • Lee

@SG-3, I think this can easily be viewed without the other two. That first one certainly was *ahem* confronting.

      ;)

  • http://rantocracy.blogspot.com/ MC

Bruce Campbell is a god. I just hope someone doesn’t pull a trigger to figure that out* (reference to the previous MMC selection which should in no way be construed as a suggestion of violence against the gentleman in question).

    • Lee

@MC, I’m kind of happy he never made it to mainstream but then I also hope that he’s happy enough in his career.

Hey guys loved the army of darkness podcast, absolutly love that film since a kid. so so funny and began my love of mr campbell. Definatly should check out Bubba ho tep, evil dead 1 and 2.Also a scene stealing cameo in waxwork 2 lost in time! (yeah i watch way to many bad movies ;-) )
You briefly mentioned darkman in the podcast. I suggest you should add that film to your list! Its a really great film and is perfect for the midnight movie club. Trivia sam raimi created darkman as he wasnt allowed to get the rights for The Shadow.

    • http://allthatcomeswithit.com Dan

@Shane, I’m pretty sure I saw Darkman at one point, but can’t remember a thing about it so it would be a worthy addition to the list. We’ll add it to the pile
